The UN SAICM 2020 objectives of sound chemical management created an unprecedented international momentum for chemical reform actions. Identifying this trend and the local need, Taiwan adopted chemical source management system by amending related chemical management regulations, among countries such as EU, Korea, Japan, the US and others. The competent agencies have broader roles to collect information and creates a national wide chemical substances inventory. Risk-based and science-based assessments, as an on-going preparatory process, provide important knowledge toward sound chemical management in Taiwan.
To share practical experience from the other jurisdictions, three expert representatives from EU, Japan and Korea will discuss the current state of policy implementation and their future plans on November 5th in Taipei. Also all stakeholders from government institutions, industry, NGOs and academic are encouraged to share their views and participate in discussions. This offers an opportunity to extensively gain understanding of international chemical management, and also helps to build stronger capacity in formulating future chemical policy and safer prosperity in Taiwan.
